HAYMARKET 2006
The beginning
The story of Sydney Cigar House starts in 2006. Back then, it was known as CTC Haymarket, a small-scale tobacconist operating in the heart of Sydney’s Market City. This is where Eric, one of our proprietors, first discovered the cigar world and its passionate suppliers - and where he fell in love with what they had to offer.
Though only a small shopfront, Eric pursued the expansion of its cigar range. This was as much a personal decision as it was a business decision. Over the years, Eric had the opportunity to taste many of the world’s finest cigars, gifting his palate with some of the richest, full-bodied flavours available.
We have grown with every step, providing an experience aged well with time.
THE STRAND ARCADE 2012
Our first store
In 2012, Eric handed over the Market City Tobacconist to strike out on his own. He built the beginnings of a Sydney Cigar House storefront at the Strand Arcade, an area that promised the same lifestyle of classic luxury that he hoped to bring to his customers.
In this location, SCH expanded into a fully professional cigar merchant. Here is when we first became recognised as a must-visit shop for cigar aficionados and those seeking to celebrate in style.
HAYMARKET EXPANSION 2021
Sizing up
The Strand was a fantastic location to provide a boutique experience, but it ultimately could not keep up with the surging demand we saw. So, in 2021, we took back our first Market City location, rebranding it under the SCH brand and converting it into a fully dedicated Cigar shop.
This walk-in storefront offered customers a smooth entry into our extensive catalogue of flavours and aromas, quickly becoming another hot spot for local cigar lovers.
A NEW PARTNER 2016
Our family grows
In 2016, Zane officially joined SCH as an owner - and as a cigar lover. This moment finalised a partnership that would set the direction for SCH’s future. Leading the company together, the pair shared a joint vision to bring, at last, the most exquisite, high-quality cigar flavours of the world to Australian shores.
OUR FLAGSHIP STORE 2022
Bondi Boom
In mid-2022, we started the renovation of our iconic flagship store in Bondi Junction. Up until this point, we had done our best to create premium experiences within the spaces we had. We endeavoured to create small refuges for our customers but always dreamed of bigger things.
And now we have it. Our Bondi store is a landmark shop for any cigar connoisseur, renovated with the express purpose of providing the perfect environment to enjoy one of history’s most storied and most savoured pastimes.
